WOYWW 174

This post is brought to you by the regular "What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?" blog hop courtesy of Julia.

I've got to be honest, I just can't get around to many desks at all at the moment with my writing. I always reciprocate but it doesn't seem in the spirit of the thing to get around to only a handful of people.  I'll still join in as and when I can but it might be quite a while between visits sadly.  I haven't even got a pic of my desk today as it is completely bare so I am using last weeks as a reference point!  I found that I couldn't write at the same desk that I craft at as I got too distracted by pretty papers and shiny embellishments.

I've moved the kraft desk set out and into our spare room which has a rather old desktop computer in so I can keep the lap top for my ..er.. lap and spread my papers out and dance between the 2 areas of creativity rather than have to put things away before I can change my focus. Huzzah!

I did a talk at my son's school last week about my "job" and all the children (and the teachers!) were jealous of me playing with paper and glue every day but since then I haven't touched my craft stuff!  In fact the last thing I made was Lunch Lady Jan's book!  I've made LLJ a notebook before and I wanted to give her something to say thank you for the amazing friend she has become and an extra thank you for the fabulous bag that she made me.  I wanted to make her something useful to keep her project ideas in so I made a book with lots of pockets and places to keep photos and measurements etc.  There is space for notes and a pencil case in the back full of tags for more notes and details etc.  I decorated all the pages in stitching themed papers and embellishments, stamped the tags with sewing machines and then added some flowers and bees because they make her smile.

I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoy my bag.

Bye for now
xx

  1. I saw the book you'd made for LLJ on her blog, it's absolutely gorgeous, Lisa, no wonder she loves it.
You sound very busy, I may have been caught napping as you've probably told us but what are you writing? It sounds very inter
esting. Hope you get a bit of time for some glue and paper playing.
    Happy WOYWW

  2. Ahh writing is a lovely creative pastime, even if it is an assignment (which I'm trying to remember, but I think it might be to do with your course?) Sorry, awful memory here!

That book is absolutely stunning, I love the colours and the co-ordination. Lunch Lady Jan will be very very pleased :D

Have a good week, Jen xx

  4. Lucky LLJ!

I try to visit first and last, people with the same end number as mine, people I visit every time and, if I have the time, people with interesting names or the same name as me!

    Take care crazy lady

  5. The book is a work of art LJ, and I applaud you even more for doing it given that you're such a busy person. Funny isn't it, I can write anywhere as long as it's quiet....noise is the mental distraction for me..the crafty stuff is easy to ignore..I guess I'm not as spontaneously creative as you are. Hope you're enjoying the work!

  8. I understand about having to shift from one activity to another in the same space, kind of makes you lose your mojo! Good luck to you. #94

  18. The book is absolutely wonderful - saw on LLJ's blog and admired it there too. Good luck with your OU course - I have completed the first year of my masters with the OU but have yet to complete the second ... I know just how time consuming, and all-consuming, it can be but enjoyable too and so worth the effort. Hope you have a good week, happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #49
