WOYWW 151

Piles.  That's what I have on my desk today.  I am busy preparing for a retreat at the weekend so I am part way through making plenty of page kits to keep me going for two and half days - huzzah!  I've selected my photos and papers and I am now adding some embellishments.  I am really looking forward to a couple of days of crafting with like minded people, especially after my op last week.  I thought it would be a quick recovery but I was wrong.  Nearly a week later and I am still feeling groggy so I may yet find that when I open my bag on Friday afternoon that I have packed nothing that matches and forgotten my adhesives and scissors!

Last week though I did manage to do something incredible.  I got around to every single desk on the WOYWW list and I read and commented on every single one.  177 desks and it took me till Saturday in between sleeping and eating.  Seriously, I don't know how people manage to do it very often at all, let alone every week.  Sadly I only managed to achieve about 70 comments myself and a few of these are not WOYWW-ers but that's not why I did it, I just wondered if I could do it, how long it would take, and also, what sorts of comments other people make when they visit lots and lots of desks.  It was a very interesting experiment but sadly something that I will rarely have time for.  Julia - keeper of the list of desks, I applaud you for taking such an interest in every desk.

I did manage to squeeze in another of Shimelle's challenges after the weekend deadline.  This was for Challenge 8 - Use a Stamp for the first time.  The stamp I used is actually a picture of a hammock and it is clearer in real life.  I heat embossed it onto vellum, a new favourite technique!

Poor Miss Bella gets so tired after her ballet class.  Its hard to believe that this little cutie is causing us such problems with her stubborness and fiery temper right now (my Mum would make some comment here about not knowing where she gets that from and looking me straight in the eye...)

I'd better get on with my packing really hadn't I?

Bye for now
xx

  1. Enjoy your time at the retreat - it'll be the best sort of recuperation. Any operation affects our systems, no matter how small it seems.
And as for Bella...well, there were times when we thought that The Big O (our first born) wasn't going to reach his third birthday and yet here we are, 19 years later and he's just finishing his first year at Uni. Keep firm, maintain the boundaries and lots of hugs should do it :)

  2. Hmmm, sounds great - two and a half day crafting without being disturbed! Love all the papers you've collected on your desk. Love the papers you've used for your spread too. The stamp you've used is a perfect combination with the pictures. Have fun at the retreat and have a happy WOYWW. Bye, Franka

  5. Man your desk is organised! You're complaining that you ONLY got 70 comments? That would be a lifetime achievement for my blog!
I haven't been around much for the last two weeks' hops but I'm here today and I'll post in a bit.
Enjoy your weekend and hope you're soon feeling better.

  6. I hope you have a great time at the Retreat and you pack everything that you need, I always forget to take something when I travel and create. 70 posts on my blog in one hit, I dont think so it has never been done on mine. You must be popular.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  8. Thats such a sweet LO! My baby ga soon learned that I was a bigger Diva than she could ever be...and it worked! They always underplay the effects of day surgery IMO, and alhtough I hope it passes in time, I'mnot surprised that you're not back at full strength just yet. Have a fab weekend - that sort of organisation will pay off big time!

And 70 comments is not too bad a return I would say..... Hope you had fun with it. I don't know how Julia does it every week. I am happy if I get round to half...

  18. Hello!

Miss Bella is beautiful! I have had many of those 'looks' and comments (sometimes the look WAS the comment) from my own mother during the many years of child rearing. :<) You will be doing this yourself someday! I love it when you come to visit my blog and leave your kind comments - thank you! Wishing you a sunshine day today!

    Hugs,

    Barbara Diane

  19. Holy cow! You visited everyone? I'm impressed. I did it once when there were 85 participants. I just pick and choose at random sometimes with a goal-everyone whose number is divisible by 3. Luckily for me Wednesday is the slower day of the week so more time to visit. Anyway, kudos to you for getting so organized before your retreat. That is a nice variety of paper you have there so you won't be stuck in a rut when playing. I hope you don't forget the scissors or adhesives. That would be sad. I've done that. I know!

  24. Sounds like the retreat is just what you need to recharge your batteries.
Well done on getting round all the desks, I never manage more than half and that usually takes all week, I think I chat too much!!!
Love your LO, they all have these phases. We've learnt that over the years but thankfully that's usually all they are.
    Take care and have fun.
